After an utterly disastrous meal at The Masons Arms which left me wanting, to say the least, I decided to turn to one of my favourite cuisines, Japanese in all its simplicity and sophistication.
Located on Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise, this splendid takeaway has a new addition – tuna (£8.50) or salmon (£7.50) tartar served with an avocado and tomato salsa in ponzu, a citrus and soy sauce.
Along with the tartar, I couldn’t resist the peppered seared beef (£5.50) with apple and chilli soy. Both dishes were spectacularly good – the beef, pictured above was cooked to utter perfection and was undoubtedly the star of the show.
On this occasion the chicken gyoza (£3.50)were a bit lacking, but the udon noodles (£6.50)with chicken came up trumps as usual – soft noodles with moist and tender chicken coated in a delicate sauce. Lovely.
It’s worth noting that you’ll be in for a long wait when ordering – they told us an hour and indeed, that’s how long it took. Worth the wait? Absobloodylutely.
