This particular beauty won first prize at the prestigious Nantwich international cheese awards in 2012, beating 3,900 other entries. Not to be sniffed at. This delicately veined, creamy blue cheese is not, as I erroneously thought, of Italian stock. It is, in fact, made in Bavaria. It was introduced into the UK in 2006 and has since won numerous awards.
Best eaten when out of the fridge for at least half an hour. I can’t believe I haven’t come across it before. Deeply delicious and terribly moorish, try it with the Peter’s Yard Swedish sourdough biscuits that I recently raved about. Available from Waitrose and independent cheese retailers recommend the organisation below.
