Is there anything nicer than a hunk of cheese, a sweet and hot relish, some grapes and a superior biscuit (I refer to Peter’s Yard Swedish sourdough thin discs of loveliness, my latest fortuitous find) and let’s not forget a rather good Claret which can stand up to the strength of the fromage.
This delectable little number is aged at the Wookey Hole caves and produced by Ford Farm in Dorset.
Mike Pullen the MD, persuaded Wookey Hole to allow him an area in the caves for his truckles.
They provide a fantastic environment for cheese maturing, due to the constant humidity and all year round temperature which results in a very distinctive, earthy flavoured cheese. It’s won numerous awards and is sold all over the world.
It’s sold in Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose so is widely available.
